Funding
By facilitating institutional art and culture projects and offering an international grant programme for visual artists, the Hessische Kulturstiftung has been enlivening the state’s cultural landscape for more than 35 years.
Project funding
We provide financial support to non-profit art and cultural institutions throughout Hesse for exhibitions, publications, and acquisitions for their collections.
Funding for acquisitions
We support targeted efforts to expand collections through the acquisition of historical and contemporary artworks, archival material, and manuscripts.

Ilknur Koçer
Born in the German city of Kassel in 1988, author and illustrator Ilknur Koçer shines a spotlight on the complex interrelationships between migration, work, social inclusivity, discrimination and racism. In her work, she pays particular attention to how labour migration not only affects individual life courses but also shapes the collective consciousness.

Our studios
The Hessische Kulturstiftung places working and living studios at its grant recipients’ disposal in New York City, London, Paris, and Istanbul. It also offers them a residency opportunity in the Goethe-Institut Villa Kamogawa in Kyoto.
The Foundation
Since its establishment by the Hessian government in 1988, the foundation has devoted itself to preserving and conveying art and culture and promoting artists in the state.
