Studio Paris

The Hessische Kulturstiftung has its Paris studio in the heart of the city at the Cité internationale des arts, a building complex that constitutes the world’s largest artists’ residence. In use by the foundation since 1992, the combined living and working space has provided accommodations to some 30 of its grant recipients.

Location and local cultural offerings

The studio is located in the Cité internationale des arts complex in Rue de l’Hôtel de Ville in the Quartier Marais. Hessische Kulturstiftung grant recipients may make free use of all of the well-known artist residence’s facilities, for example the printing and ceramics workshops. Another special advantage is access to an entire international artists’ community under a single roof, complete with the opportunities it offers for direct contact and joint work as well as a full programme of events. The Marais district is one of the city’s gallery hotspots and links contemporary art with prominent collections—for example the Centre Pompidou or the Louvre—within walking distance.
